Ping Identity Announces Federation Endpoint Initiative

Single Partner PingFederate License Designed for Organizations Needing a Fast, Low Cost SAML or WS-Federation Connection

DENVER, CO – May 22, 2007 – Ping Identity® today announced a new initiative designed for organizations deploying their first identity federation partner connection. Under this initiative, a single-connection annual subscription license for Ping Identity’s award-winning federation server, PingFederate®, is now available at affordable prices starting at $9,000. These new federation endpoint licenses can be easily upgraded to support additional connections as customers’ identity federation requirements grow.

Over the past 18 months, the market for federated identity management has accelerated dramatically as large enterprises have extended their security architectures to incorporate their business process outsourcers, hosted application providers and trading partners. However, for some business partners, implementing a single federation connection supporting SAML or WS-Federation has required significant financial and resource commitments.

“Identity federation initiatives sometimes stall because partners lack the technology or expertise to implement the necessary standard,” said Mike Donaldson, VP Marketing, Ping Identity Corporation. “Moreover, federation partners often face budget limitations and aggressive timelines they must comply with to meet service level agreements.”

Identity Federation for Everyone

Ping Identity’s new single connection license accelerates deployment, lowers initial federation investment and simplifies partner onboarding.

“A top 10 pharmaceutical told us they wanted to buy our enterprise service, but that we had to support federated identity”, said Andy Michaelis, Software Development Manager, Allscripts Healthcare Systems. “Our client had some very specific launch goals, and we only had two weeks to learn about federated SSO, implement something and integrate it into our product. Fortunately we found Ping Identity. Using PingFederate, the actual configuration only took a couple of hours”.

When used as a federation endpoint, PingFederate offers several advantages:

·         Fast Deployments – Comprehensive functionality including support for SAML 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0, WS-Federation and easy-to-use configuration tools mean PingFederate can be downloaded, installed, configured and tested in hours, not weeks or months as with other solutions

·         Standalone – PingFederate has no dependencies on expensive, hard-to-manage infrastructure software such as identity management suites, application servers, databases or directories. There is nothing additional to buy to deploy PingFederate

·         Compatible – Pre-built Integration Kits make PingFederate compatible with virtually every type of software organizations use to manage user identities and deploy Web applications

·         Conformant –PingFederate has been certified Liberty Alliance SAML 2.0 interoperable and GSA E-Authentication compliant, unlike most open source and application server-based federation options

·         Upgradeable – Once organizations deploy their first federation connection, they can add additional connections or even upgrade to a full federation hub with a simple upgrade of licensing.  No further changes to the software are required

·         Affordable – A one-year PingFederate subscription supporting a single partner connection with unlimited transactions, applications, users and security domains is:

o        USD $9,000 with Ping Identity’s Bronze level support

o        USD $10,000 with Ping Identity’s Silver level support

o        USD $11,000 with Ping Identity’s Gold level support

Webinar: Securing the Extended Enterprise

Identity federation allows organizations with an existing business relationship to effectively "share" user accounts, making it unnecessary to maintain the same accounts in multiple locations.

Thursday - June 21, 2007 - 8:00 AM PDT, 11:00 AM EDT

For the user, identity federation provides single sign-on access to external information systems. For the organizations deploying it, identity federation provides the ability to form closer business relationships, improve customer service, accelerate execution of partnerships, and cut identity management costs.  In this webinar we’ll take a business-oriented look at how Federated Identity Management can be used to secure business processes that extend across your supply and demand chains, joint ventures and partnerships.  In 30 minutes we'll answer these questions and more:

  • How does Identity Federation help Supply Chain Collaboration?

  • How does Identity Federation simplify operating Joint Ventures?

  • What are the regulatory compliance and corporate governance issues does Identity Federation address?

  • What information security vulnerabilities does Identity Federation address?

Webinar: Internet-Scale Identity Systems

Thursday - June 7, 2007 -8:00 AM PDT, 11:00 AM ED

The ever-increasing incidence of spam, phishing, identity theft, and password fatigue suggests that the Internet needs a consistent identity system to enable users to confidently manage, control, and use their identity in interactions with online service providers. An Internet-scale identity system is an architecture that defines standardized mechanisms enabling the identity attributes of its users to be shared between applications and Web sites. In this Webinar we provide an overview of CardSpace, OpenID, and other emerging user-centric identity technologies that are starting to reach the market.

In 30 minutes we'll answer these questions and more:

• What is CardSpace? What is OpenID?
• What impact will these technologies have on my business?
• What should I be doing to prepare to support user-centric identity technologies?

For more information and to REGISTER go to www.pingidentity.com/about/news_events

Also, feel free to forward this invitation to anyone you think would benefit from attending.

PingLogin 2.1 Released

PINGLOGIN 2.1 NOW AVAILABLE

PingLogin 2.1 is available for immediate download.

PingLogin is a next-generation user authentication and single sign-on framework for consumer-facing online services and web applications. Designed to enable extensible and flexible deployments, PingLogin reduces the maintenance and development costs associated with existing access management implementations. Additionally, PingLogin’s integration interface enables agility to meet changing business and security demands.

Built on standards with a focus on flexibility and extensibility, PingLogin provides a foundation for those companies looking to re-factor their approach to consumer authentication. By centralizing authentication and making additional forms of consumer authentication a plug-and-play exercise, PingLogin can reduce integration and on-going maintenance costs considerably. At the same time, PingLogin’s robust integration interfaces enable greater agility to meet the ever changing business and security requirements brought on as a result of phishing, pharming and identity fraud.

PingLogin was not only designed specifically for consumer-scale performance, but also for the evolving requirements surrounding identity verification as new threats and technologies emerge.

New capabilities include:

  • Additional Cookie Mode – PingLogin now supports another cookie mode, in which the browser session state is stored within an encrypted cookie in the browser itself instead of in memory on a server or an agent, thereby providing near-linear scalability of both the agent and the server. Due to privacy and security concerns with this mode, PingLogin also provides automated generation of encryption keys, with distribution via an authenticated, encrypted channel in both standalone and clustered server configurations.
  • Multiple Domain Support – A single PingLogin instance can support multiple domains for session management, which is especially beneficial to hosted environments, where a single application server hosts content for multiple customers across multiple domains.
  • Improved Plug-in Support – The PingLogin administrative console dynamically generates configuration pages to manage server plug-ins. In addition, PingLogin allows an initial authenticator to pass identity information to subsequent authentication mechanisms, such as second-factor authenticators. PingLogin also supports packaging third-party plug-in configuration data for distribution with the server configuration at deployment time.

PingFederate 4.4 Now Available

PingFederate 4.4 is available for immediate download. Continuing Ping Identity’s initiative to meet the unique cross-domain credentialing and federated identity needs of government agencies, this release is anticipated to be certified for use within the upcoming Version 2.0 of the US General Services Administration E-Authentication Initiative. For more information on the E-Authentication Initiative, go to http://cio.gov/eauthentication.

New features with this release include:

  • Attribute Value Transformations – PingFederate supports an expressive and flexible syntax to transform attribute values. The transformation expressions (which can be simple to highly elaborate) are created, tested and validated within the administrative console prior to deployment.

  • Multiple Network Interface Support – In complex data center environments where servers contain multiple network interfaces, customers may require that particular types of traffic, such as partner, administration and cluster messages, be routed to explicit interfaces. PingFederate supports the ability to listen for specific traffic on multiple interfaces, which increases server security and prevents administration tasks from competing with partner requests over the same network.

  • Signed Metadata File Support – Metadata files are used to rapidly configure federation partner connections. In addition to unsigned files, signed metadata files may be imported into and generated by PingFederate. When a signed metadata file contains an invalid signature, PingFederate prevents its importation.

  • Certificate Revocation List (CRL) Enforcement – When a partner certificate for signature verification, SSL, or encryption contains a reference to a CRL distribution point from a trusted Certificate Authority, PingFederate verifies that the certificate has not been revoked and prevents its use if it has been invalidated.

  • Improved Administrative Interface – Changes have been made to the Main Menu and Local Settings views in the administrative console that improve usability and reduce post-installation work. The Main Menu utilizes a more intuitive layout that clearly separates Identity Provider and Service Provider roles as well as general server-wide settings.

  • SOAP Binding – PingFederate supports the SAML 2.0 SOAP binding, which enhances interoperability and benefits customers who implement custom integrations.

PingFederate Citrix Integration Kit - Download Now

PingFederate Integration Kit for Citrix Presentation Server Extends Federated
Identity Management to Any Application Virtualized through Citrix

DENVER, CO – May 2, 2007-- Ping Identity® Corporation today announced
that the PingFederate® Integration Kit for Citrix Presentation Server™
Platinum Edition is now available for download from its Web site,
www.pingidentity.com. As was previously announced at Citrix iForum™
Global 06 in Orlando, Fla., the new PingFederate integration kit brings the
most complete federation functionality available in the marketplace to users
of Citrix’s Presentation Server and application delivery infrastructure
solutions.

Until now, single sign-on (SSO) via an Identity Federation has been limited to
Web applications. This Integration Kit extends the reach of SAML and WSFederation
SSO beyond Web applications to also include any client/server
applications that have been virtualized using Citrix Presentation Server. The
PingFederate Integration Kit for Citrix Presentation Server enables external
users to access Citrix Presentation Server environments with SSO access.
Managing user credentials for external users becomes a thing of the past.
“By leveraging Citrix Presentation Server Platinum Edition, PingFederate
enables single sign-on access to the wide array of existing non-Web
applications often omitted from federation solutions, and provides for a
trusted relationship across domains to allow access without entering
additional credentials,” said Scott Herren, Group VP and general manager,
Virtualization Systems Group, Citrix Systems. “We are already seeing the
value of this best-of-breed solution as part of Citrix’s end-to-end application
delivery solution.”

"Since we announced the PingFederate Integration Kit for Citrix Presentation
Server last October, the interest has been tremendous,” said Andre Durand,
CEO of Ping Identity. “In addition to a production deployment at one of the
nation’s largest healthcare insurance providers, we have seen strong demand
from other insurance providers, investment banks, and heavy equipment
manufacturers.”

The PingFederate Integration Kit for Citrix Presentation Server requires no
direct integration with Citrix Presentation Server. It is a lightweight solution
that requires only the Citrix Web Interface. The integration kit uses
constrained delegation to authenticate against Microsoft Active Directory and
generates Integrated Windows Authentication credentials to access Citrix
Presentation server. Customers have expressed appreciation for this
approach for enabling external SSO into Citrix Presentation Server because it
enables them to deploy a Citrix Web Interface site for external SSO with no
additional modifications to their existing Citrix implementations.
